Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label released her first album titled Pho in the month of October of 2016 when she began getting noticed. Cole's Change and also performed on her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as an opening act. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks featuring EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first song Whipped Cream off of Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. A music video followed then followed by a short video in September. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 13, she dropped two singles titled No One as well as Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019, for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared along with Cole on The Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. In December of 2018, she was a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
